Pupils purchase their costumes for shows through the dancing school and we try to keep costs as low as possible.  Pupils are able to save towards their costumes by paying into the Costume Club at any time, and they are further assisted with this if they pay for lessons at the first lesson of each term or by standing order on the first day of each month.  In this case, 7% of what they pay goes into the Costume Club in their name, as a form of discount/reward.

Pupils get to keep their own costumes as a souvenir of the show, although some parents do donate costumes which have become too small. Donated costumes can then be borrowed by pupils for performances which take place in the year between our main shows

Performances

We perform at Arnold Carnival  in June every year.

We have performed at Sherwood Community Centre events regularly since 1977.

The singing group have also performed at IKEA Christmas events a number of times. As well as our own shows, we have been involved in many other public performances, from local and national charity events, car-launches, company promotions, Civic Ball, to international sporting events.

Many pupils have had opportunities to perform in galas and competitions at the Dominion Theatre, London, Blackpool Opera House and Buxton Opera House.

Every two years we do our main show, usually in March.  In 2017 we performed our 40th Anniversary show, as it was 40 years since our first performance at Sherwood Community Centre in 1977 and 40 years since we started to hold classes at Sherwood Community Centre.

Any profits from our shows go to charity, and over the years we have raised thousands of pounds. The nature of the school dictates that children's charities should receive some from the hard work of our pupils, and, wherever possible, donations are kept local to the Nottinghamshire area.

From our 2011 and 2013 Shows, we have donated £1,700 to Clic Sergeant, Happy Days, Meningitis Trust, Street Light.

We also support Sherwood Community Centre, by maintaining the wooden floors and making general improvements to décor.  Sherwood Community Association CIO is the Registered Charity which runs the Community Centre, and it relies on rents to run the building, along with donations/volunteer work for improvements.
